渣漿泵泵軸穿出泵殼時(shí)，在軸與殼之間存在著間隙，如不采取措施，間隙處就會(huì)有泄漏。當(dāng)間隙處的液體壓力大于大氣壓力(如單吸式離心泵)時(shí)，泵殼內(nèi)的高壓水就會(huì)通過此間隙向外大量泄漏;當(dāng)間隙處的液體壓力為真空(如雙吸式離心泵)時(shí)，則大氣就會(huì)從間隙處漏人泵內(nèi)，從而降低泵的吸水性能。為此，需在軸與殼之間的間隙處設(shè)置密封裝置，稱之為軸封。目前，應(yīng)用較多的軸封裝置有填料密封、機(jī)械密封。

To achieve this, a sealing device called a shaft seal needs to be installed at the gap between the shaft and the shell.
